There are seven thousand people in Slovenia waiting for cataract surgery. The frequency of this eye condition increases with age and after the age of 65, more than half of people have this eye disease. The only successful treatment of cataract is an operation by which the surgeon replaces the cloudy natural lens of your eye with an intraocular one.

Many people decide to get a vision correction operation while they are already there for their cataract surgery. In this case, health insurance does not cover the cost of a vision correction surgical procedure or cataract surgery.

The health insurance company did not want to be filmed, however, they noted that the dioptric correction is not covered by health insurance, because this was not defined by the medical profession and that the operations, which are covered by the insurance, should be carried out separately from the self-funded ones.
