One of Slovenia’s oldest traditions is the 200-year-old tradition of the eights. (Known as the osmice) Two centuries ago in the Karst region, farmers had 8 days to sell surplus wine, homemade pršut, and other meat without paying tax. It was essentially a guaranteed party, and has since continued.
