The so-called “urban gardens” are of varying sizes and can be rented for a relatively cheap price. Renting a 40-square-meter patch of land will cost just 4 euros a month. This will be the first of four such planned gardens, which will be regulated by the municipality. The city said it was eager to provide some systematic order to the practice of urban gardening. Hundreds of fruit and vegetable gardens have sprung up on the outskirts of the city.
