The work of SOVA, a key agency in carrying out intelligence and counter-intelligence activities, has been crippled for some time due to a nine-month-long strike. SOVA employees demand the re-evaluation of their work positions and a higher number of staff. But it seems that during all these months on strike, nobody really dealt with the demands of the SOVA employees or even noticed the strike.

The new SOVA director, Rajko Kozmelj, will have to deal with and solve the complicated issues at the agency. "Listen to the organization, find out why things are not the way they should be, do away with all the irregularities and prepare the team to do the things they know how to do well," Kozmelj told Radio Slovenija what he plans to do first.

Kozmelj will also have to tackle reorganizing the intelligence and security agency, which is envisaged in the draft law on SOVA. Kozmelj is also an advocate of changes and for more powers to be given to SOVA, but with adequate supervision
