Until recently, the Kloma gorge in Trenta was one of the rarest corners of Slovenia, which had not yet been walked on, climbed and conquered. The waterfall was considered to be the highest in Slovenia, however, the speleologists have rejected this claim.

The Kloma gorge in Trenta lies in the north-western wall of Veliki Vršovec, the Kolpa stream turns into wild waterfalls towards Krajcarica, which is the affluent of the Soča River. So far, the Kolma waterfall has been described by the biggest waterfalls Slovenian expert Boštjan Burger, who wrote that the 128 meters high Kolma waterfall is the highest in the country. The speleologists Bogdan Kladnik and Iztok Cenčič went into the gorge and rejected the claim.

"Magnificent. All nature, which is difficult to access, is magnificent," Bogdan Kladnik explained for Television Slovenia. "The waterfalls are very beautiful, even though they are not very high. Gorge is imposing, here it was two to three hundred meters of a very narrow area. Let’s say that these are the deepest gorges in Slovenia."

The speleologists started their descent at an altitude of 1800 meters, and after twelve hours, they went thousands of feet lower. "Based on the oral tradition, we expected that there will be a 128 meters high waterfall, as the highest waterfall in Slovenia, which proved to be far from the truth."

The most difficult was, as they explain, a descent over the waterfalls, so they had to drill the anchorage and provide additional security. On Monday, they went over the Trebiščina on the top of the gorge with over ten kilograms of equipment.

They were aware of the danger, and that’s why they were connected through a radio with a friend, and they informed other speleologists about their descent.
