"The people of Slovenia have never attacked, Slovenians have always defended themselves, and our fundamental value has always been a word with five letters – peace. It is a very simple word, but at the same time such a hard-achieved thing," said the new Slovenian prime minister Marjan Šarec, adding that the history of mankind has not been a history of peace but a history of wars.

"We'll have peace when two colleagues are able to have coffee together without a quarrel about politics. There are many words being uttered in politics every day, a lot of disputes, a lot of quarrelling, but this must not affect the society. There’s no need to argue at work, at home or anywhere because of politics. It's not peace, it's being misled. Politics is not worth arguing over," he added.

Visitors of the event were also addressed by Mayor of the Miren-Kostanjevica Municipalityof Mavricij Humar and President of the League of Veterans of the War for Slovenia Ladislav Lipič. The cultural programme included singers, the Slovenian Police Orchestra and recitals performed by the TIGR Action Youth Club.
