Ribičič fought in the Second World War. Immediately after the war, he became a member of the security and intelligence agency OZNA and later of the secret police UDBA. Both organisations were involved in the forceful removal of members of the German-speaking community and anti-Communist political opponents.

He was also a member of the Slovenian regional government in Yugoslavia and a member of the regional parliament. His name popped up again and again in the years after Slovenia's independence in connection with post-war summary executions. Ribičič´s funeral will be attended in a narrow family circle.
