RTV Slovenija's Department for Entertainment Programs has invited songwriters to present their proposals through an online application form, which can be found here. This year, once again, the rule is that if the song-writer is foreign national, the performer has to be a Slovenian citizen. And if the performer is a foreign national then the songwriter has to be a Slovenian citizen. There can be a maximum of six performers on stage.

The next Eurovision event will be held in Ukraine, thanks to singer Džamala and her song 1949. The search for the host city of next year's song contest also begins today. Apart from the capital Kiev, other candidates are the cities of Kherson, Kharkov, Dnipro, Odessa and Lviv. An interesting fact - Džamala is supporting the candidacy of Odessa. Next year's Eurovision will take place between the 9th and 13th of May.

This year Slovenia was represented by ManuElla and her song Blue and Red. However, Slovenia failed to make it to the final. In the last five years Slovenia has managed to qualify for the final evening three times. Those that managed to advance to the final were Maja Keuc, Tinkara Kovač and Maraaya.
