If we plan on selling everything – I won’t be a part of that. The other option is for me not to be there.

Whether Janković remains active in state politics or not, will depend on to what extent the pledges in the new coalition contract will match the programme of the Positive Slovenia party.
This is what the mayor of Ljubljana and the founder of Positive Slovenia (PS) stated at the press conference. He pointed out that he was the author of the programme confirmed unanimously by over 800 members of PS at the party’s congress.
Never again
“Never again,” stressed Janković firmly in response when asked whether he plans to remain active in state politics if the pledges in the future coalition contract – that is currently being drafted by the coalition parties – won’t match PS’s party programme.
No decision yet
“My decision hasn’t come yet,” repeated Janković when asked if PS should organize the party’s congress – which had been postponed some time ago – before the upcoming European elections. “If we plan on selling everything – I won’t be a part of that. The other option is for me not to be there,” said the founder of PS.
Then and now
“I was a mayor in the morning, and hopped into a van with a sandwich in the afternoon. I met CEOs, to whom I pay my respects – those were six of the most fruitful days of my life,” told Janković upon bringing up the memories of the party foundation campaign, and remarked with irony: “And now if Samo Lozej [t/n: director of Grep company, which is currently under investigation for a business deal with the city] has had a house search – he’s not appropriate to be a CEO.”
Janković: I believe in this nation
Janković also noted that he “believes in this nation and the recuperation of Slovenia”. But the latter will only be possible if banks can provide Slovenian companies with good loans. Regarding the next local elections, the mayor says he’ll “start thinking about them in May 2014”.
