The web portal of national broadcaster RTVSLO is marking 100 years since the outbreak of World War One with a call for pictures and letters. The special portal can be accessed here.

The website has been quick to point out that the purpose of the portal is not to glorify or celebrate the war, but to examine and remember an event that traumatized Slovenia and the world. Slovenia at the time was part of Austria-Hungary but many of the war's bloodiest battles (particularly the battles along the Isonzo river) were fought in present-day Slovenia. Slovenes everywhere are being invited to e-mail any pictures, postcards or mementos they may have related to the "war to end all wars."
