Motovun Film Festival, which enriches summer events in the picturesque historic Istrian town, will offer a record number of films this year.
The event is expanding to the town of Buzet and plans to present a novelty this year, namely a jury in exile. In that way the organizers want to give a chance to film critics, activists and artists who were forced to leave the country and work abroad, to rate the films. Between 26th and 30th of July more than 100 films will be screened. This is the largest number of films on the festival to date.
21 films will be competing for the main Motovun Prize called Propeller. Among them is also the debut feature film Barbari or Barbarians by director Ivan Ikić. The part film, part documentary was created in Serbo-Montenegrin-Slovenian co-production and tells the story of modern day Serbia with lots of black humor.
